Fall into Great Resources

October 18, 2015 By Ashley Schroeder

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!! 🙂 I am linking up with 8 of my sweet and talented bloggy friends to bring you some FABULOUS fall resources, tips, books, crafts, and FREEBIES for FALL!!
Oh, and you KNOW that that’s not all!! We are also giving away ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS to TEACHERS PAY TEACHERS!!

Before we get started, I also want to point out we are making it SUPER easy to find all of our fall resources and freebies that we are featuring in our posts in our Teachers Pay Teachers stores.  We have used our love for hashtags to help you out!!
On TPT: type in the hashtag: #fallintogreatresources into the search bar on TPT!  You can click HERE to see all of our hashtagged products and freebies, too! You will see all of our fall products pop up in the search! So grab a PSL, hop through our fall filled posts, and then head on over to TPT to check all of resources and freebies out all in one place!
Let’s get started!
In ten years of teaching, there are a few projects that I just cannot veer from simply for the sake of “changing it up”.   When it’s not broken, don’t fix it, right?  Well, when it comes to my Poppin’ Pumpkins, I just can’t NOT do them!! . . . .

I use the kids’ pictures to make it look like they’re jumping out of the pumpkin! I mean – seriously! How cute are they?!   I always add some green vines for fun to make it look more like a pumpkin patch, and I just love keeping them up all fall long!

Beyond how darn cute they are – they are SO EASY, too!  I give the kiddos a few simple pumpkin patterns to choose from that they trace onto a piece of white/off white card stock which they then cut out.

Then, the kiddos use glue sponges – inspired by the fabulous Greg Smedley – to glue/layer pieces of orange, yellow, and green tissue paper onto their pumpkins however they like.  The more they layer them, the better!

While the kids glue their tissue paper, I take the kids’ pictures.  I tell them that they will be popping out of a pumpkin, and some of their faces, though, oh my.
I print the pictures, let the pumpkins dry, cut the pictures out, and then, I literally cut their pumpkins in half! I use scotch tape and a stapler to attach their pictures to the pumpkins, and then BOOM we have an adorable pumpkin patch in the hallway!

Another oldie but goodie that I’ve been using my entire career is this read aloud! – “There was an Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.”
Have you heard of it?? If you haven’t tried it with your kiddos, you must!! It’s SO interactive for the kids, and they never get sick of doing it!  It’s also a popular pick during silent reading time.

The little old lady meets some scary friends in the forest and they all have sounds to make at her! The kids get to make the repeated sounds (and made of motions, of course) with you as you read! It is SO fun!!
I’d love to know if this is a go to read aloud for you, too!
My FALL FREEBIE is a bit of a higher level freebie, perfect for your advanced 1st graders, most of your 2nd graders, and any of your 3rd graders that may need some extra practice responding to reading using some text evidence to prove their answer!
Do y’all love Room on the Broom as much as I do??!!  It’s another FAVORITE read aloud of mine for fall, and with an increased focus on finding the EVIDENCE to PROVE our answers in most every part of our school day, I’ve added a respond to reading freebie to my store that you can use with your kiddos after this read aloud!

You can snag this FREEBIE by clicking the pictures above, by searching the hashtag #fallintogreatresources on TPT, or by clicking RIGHT HERE!
Lastly, I’ve got a shiny and new FALL RESOURCE to share with you!
Every year at this time, I realize that my kiddos could use all of the extra place value practice that they can possible get!   This year, when my best friend, blog author at Polka Dots Please, posted her new set of pumpkin clipart, I just KNEW that it would be the perfect and cute addition to a new set of place value task cards.   So . . . .   I made some place value task cards – pumpkin style!!

There are two sets of differentiated task cards, including a set for 2 digit numbers and a set for 3 digit numbers.  Each set includes place value practice finding the value of given digits in a 2 or 3 digit number as well as showing a given 2 or 3 digit number in expanded form.
There are so many different ways that you can use task cards in your classroom, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to use them to play scoot!! In the picture above, you can see that the kiddos use a clip board to carry their response sheets around the classroom as they scoot from task card to task card, recording their answers as they go.
**Both sets of task cards also include a KEY!**

I’ve also included a few pages of no prep printables for place value practice, too!

Below is a closer look at an example of one of the task cards in set two with 3 digit number practice.  The set of 24 task cards includes a variety of questions to practice place value!

Here is a closer look at the task cards from set 1 – using just TWO digit numbers! The questions are similar to the questions on the 3-digit task cards, but they are just with 2 digit numbers.  I used a plain pumpkin clip art on set 1 and a pumpkin with glasses on set 2.  You (and your kiddos) can keep the sets of cards organized by just sorting them by the pumpkins!

I hope your kiddos love this pumpkin place value pack as much as my kiddos do!  Click any picture above to check out my Pumpkin Place Value in my shop!
And I TOLDDDD you that we had a chance to win $100 to TPT, didn’t I?!?!? Here’s your chance!! Enter the Rafflecopter below and then hop on over to my friends’ blogs, too to check out their fall filled posts that are packed with tips, tricks, crafts, freebies and MORE!

Happy fall, y’all!
