#2getherwearebetter HOME OFFICE SPACE

June 2, 2015 By Ashley Schroeder

Hey hey all!! Can you believe we are now at the start of JUNE?!?!? Angie from Lucky Little Learners and I are SO thrilled to be bringing you the JUNE 2nd version of our #2GETHERWEAREBETTER LINKY PARTY – dare I say summer vacation style?!
On the 2nd of every month, Angie and I are hosting a linky on our blogs to BRING US ALL TOGETHER to brainstorm, share, vent?, and LEARN from each other about hot topics and challenges in education because TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER!!
This month, we are taking a BIT of a different angle on things!! We all know that NONE of us leave work at work.  Night after night, weekend after weekend, break after break, we take home PILES and PILES of things to do! SOOOO with summer break here and/or around the corner for all of us, we want you to invite us into your home and show us where you spend your time working when you’re NOT at school!! Do you have a home office? Do you work at the dining room table? Do you like to sit on the living room floor like I do?!?  All of these thoughts and wonderings have led us to this month’s #2getherwearebetter link up topic….

Let me first start by saying I absolutely LOVE our house.  There are windows galore, plenty of space, an open floor plan, and I just adore it.  With that being said, there are 4 bedrooms…. well… one of those has officially been turned into my office space 🙂

Let me continue on by saying I am NOT a shopper nor an interior decorator and the whole idea of putting together a decorated room from start to finish and committing to a paint color, furniture, etc, just straight up gives me anxiety!  SOOOO if you’re one of those fabulously fancy home decorators… 1) you rock and 2) I’ve stalked your blogs and social media for ideas of how to put together a space in my home 🙂 so THANK YOU for sharing your expertise with me!

SOOOOO now that you know how much of a decorator that I am NOT…. here is what my office looks like from the door way! Come on in!!

carpet is from Target 🙂
name of the paint is elephant skin!
My home office is in the front of the house and it gets LOTS of sunshine.  This girl LOVES the sun – it’s so so good for my soul – and working in my office on a sunny day is perfection!

Here is my desk area! . . . the desk is from Target, the chair is OLD and has been around a while!, the lamp is from Hobby Lobby, and the printer cart is from Staples!
I still am searching for that PERFECT something to hang on the wall above my desk.  I want SOMETHING in the color scheme that is the grays and blues that you’ve seen, and I want it to be something along the lines of “Create your heart out” or something else inspirational that speaks to me as I sit down to create, plan, work, blog, and organize!
Also – because SO many of you ask! – my printer is an HP laserjet 200! The ink is an investment but I love love love love love my printer!!

I LOVE love LOVE the corner chair that I snagged one day at TJ MAXX! The pillow is from there too.  We ended up getting it at a steal of a price too – less than 100$ – because there was some red ink on it that ended up coming right out!  The satin gray curtains are from Kohls and the picture on the wall is from Hobby Lobby! 🙂
Please tell me that I’m not the only one that has a chair or two in her house that is just to look pretty? I don’t think I’ve even sat in this chair haha.  But it sure does look pretty 🙂

The picture above the shelving unit (which is SO old and I have no idea where it’s from….POSSIBLY Staples?!) is also from Hobby Lobby.  I’m just loving the color combo of the turquoise and gray together! It’s warm, has a bit of a neutral feel to it which matches the feel to the rest of my house, yet it’s colorful, too!!  Believe me, I’m totally clueless when it comes to interior design type stuff…but I am proud of how my home office space together!

This pretty little end table is from TJ MAXX as well and it’s just the right amount of shine for my office space! There’s not a whole lot of bling going on, but I liked the shiny table top nonetheless! I also LOVE love LOVE filling the house with the smell of lilacs this time of year!!! LOVE.
Here’s a little bit of a closer look at the shelving unit I mentioned before.  It’s not perfect, and I’d love some suggestions of what to add to it to declutter? or to change up the look of it a bit.  However I do LOVE the blue, white, and gray baskets and organizers that are all from Target!!
And do you see that framed quote?!  It is a prayer from the one and only Deanna Jump and it says “Lord, show me the way, and I’ll do the work”.  How beautiful and powerful is that?!? She shared her story and her prayer at the keynote in Vegas last year (which you can read all about here).  I immediately made a printable to match my office that you can snag for FREE here if you’d like to have it in your home office space, too!

I LOVE love LOVE all of the natural lighting in my office, too!! It allows for some fabulous photo shoots of my products! 🙂 WIN WIN!

I’ve got a 2nd, very plain, desk on the opposite wall from my working desk area.  As I print products that need cut, photographed, laminated, or organized, they gets tossed in the basket that you see above! Then I use my paper cutter and my Scotch laminator to finish off my to dos!

And rounding out the last corner of my office is another gem of a cabinet from TARGET!! They had a few different colors, but this color was PERFECT for my office! The pom is from Hobby Lobby and the funky decoration next to the pom is also from Hobby Lobby! The white, gray, and teal baskets that you see inside are all from Target as are the mirrors hanging above it!!!
I’ve got note pads and post its galore organized in this cabinet space! You can read more about my post it obsession HERE!

Despite my beautiful office space…. there’s a {not so} secret truth that I always share…. I actually prefer to plop and set up shop on the floor!! I need SPACE to spread out my planners, my piles, my lists, etc!, so 19 times out of 20 that I sit down to tackle my list {including RIGHT NOW as I type up my blog post!}, I’m plopping on the floor!!
So there you have it! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing where I go to create, to organize, to plan, and to share!! I would LOVE love LOVE to see what your work space is like!!!  Angie and I would LOVE to have you link up with us! Show us what YOUR home work space is like and link up below!

I can’t WAITTT to see your work space! I just KNOW I’ll be able to grab an idea or two to add to mine! Thank you for reading all about my home office space and for joining us for our #2getherwearebetter June Linky Party!! 🙂

Okay, yep, I adore you and your sweet self! I think you need to give yourself a little more credit! Your home decor is great, I love that chair, but I think my favorite is your shelf full of inspiration…especially Deanna's quote which I still need to grab from your store and print out for MY office! Can I just say I love how well we work together?! Love ya girl!

What a beautiful work space! I don't know where on Earth you get the idea that you are not an interior decorator, because you've brought everything together in such a gorgeous manner here!!! :o) And LOVE how sunny it is!
(I too have added a few just-for-pretty chairs in our house – they might not be the most practical, but they're just so beautiful to look at!)
P.S. I just now went to your store and downloaded Deanna's quote to frame for my own home office – love it! Thank you!

I love your post it cabinet!! I can't wait to pull all of mine out of my treasure chest as they still sit here on my "desk" or dining room table!! 🙂 For real though, I love the gray, white, black and aqua color theme!! Beautiful!! I also have to spread my stuff out all over the place, which is another reason that my dining room table makes a great desk!! Thanks for showing off your beautiful office to us friend!!

Hi Ashley! I love your home office and all of your office supplies! Most of my home decor is from Target too. I love the blue cabinet that you have and the three mirrors hanging above them! I don't have a Hobby Lobby near me but I think that's a good thing because I'd do some serious damage there. I agree, a pretty chair is necessary, I have one in my bedroom and it just makes me smile. Thanks so much for hosting, I can't wait to link up next month!

Ummmm… I am in love with "elephant skin," which is something I never thought I would write! I also have no problem with a beautiful accent chair that is never sat in 🙂 I just think of it as a functional piece of art! Your space is beautiful. Thank you so much for hosting this fun linky!
