All smiles . . .and my Vocabulary Vacation Toolkit!

April 22, 2014 By Ashley Schroeder

Hi friends!! I am absolutely humbled and oh so very thankful that, after getting a heads up by a sweet, fellow 2nd grade teacher bloggy friend of mine this morning, I spotted me?!? and my Vocabulary Vacation Toolkit in the top 100 for K-2 last week on TPT!!

Honest to Betsy {not sure if anyone ever says that.. like ever}, I never thought in a million years that you all would take a liking to my store and my creations and my crazy ideas and me?! like you have! THANK YOU SO MUCH for your daily and continual support, love, and encouragement!!!

With that being said, I wanted to take a closer peek at my #91?!?! Vocab Vacation Toolkit today to show you what it has to offer to you and your kiddos! . . .

The skills included in this set are:

The whole set is a vacation/road trip theme, and one of my sweet followers had the idea that this unit would be SOOOOO easily amped up in the classroom, too! I even saw some mini suitcase looking lunch boxes at Target that I now want to go back and snag, so I can have the kids work out of those when they complete the activities in this set! How fun?!?

Here is a closer look at each skill and the activities and resources that accompany each!

Metaphors and Similes – Students will answer task cards about given metaphors and similes.  There are also anchor charts included for each!

Do your kids love idioms like mine do?!? I can’t wait to use this activity with my kiddos – they have been pointing out idioms left and right (see what I did there?!) ever since I taught them, and this will be perfect reinforcement to practice identifying and defining commonly used idioms as a review through the end of the year. There is also an anchor chart for you to add to your focus wall AND interactive notebook pages to use as well!

Context Clues are oh-so-important to teach our readers – particularly at the 2nd and 3rd grade level.  There is so much to put together for the kids to fully “get” what they’re reading.  Cool Off With Context Clues will surely help your students to become more aware of the clues around an unknown word and help them to USE those clues to help them define it!

Homographs (multiple meaning words) have popped up in our reading series often this year, and I thought that the end of the year would be a perfect time to review and revisit! The kiddos get to “scoot” around the room to decide the meaning of the homographs on each card to complete the homograph activity is this pack!  There is also an anchor chart included.

And lastly – Sandy Synonyms and Antonyms! This set is actually available and sold separately from the Vocab Vacation Toolkit which you can grab {HERE}.  However, it is also a part of the FULL toolkit, so don’t buy both, silly friends! 🙂

The kids have to be careful listeners and practice what they know about synonyms and antonyms to play I Have Who Has as well as to complete the variety of synonym and antonym practice pages in this set! Anchor charts are included as well!

It’s definitely in my top 5 favorites of the 100?!? products I have in my store! I would love to hear what you think! AND in celebration and as a way to say THANK YOU for helping me to reach the top 100s for K-2 last week, I’ve put this pack on sale for today and tomorrow! (Tuesday and Wednesday!)

Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you all more than you know!! Happy Tuesday!!
