Fun Freebies for You :)

January 27, 2014 By Ashley Schroeder

Hi y’all ! I wanted to stop by quickly tonight (it’s been one of those days that EVERYTHING has taken 6 times longer than it should, so I have SO much more to accomplish if I want to control my to-do list before bed) to share a few quick freebies with you!

This weekend, between the snow, the cold, the lesson plans, and a few work/family gatherings,  I was busy planning out a few *sweeeet* Valentine’s Day Centers for math in a few weeks, and I came across a PERFECT activity for my kids in particular from Lacey at The Fabulous Life of an Elementary Teacher!

HOW CUTE IS THIS SWEEEET Place Value Match Up?!? My kids need practice matching 3-4 digit numbers to their base ten value like NOBODY’S business!! So I couldn’t print nor laminate this fast enough!!
You can click either image above to check it out in Lacey’s TPT store!
So as I was putting this cute cute pack together for my kids, I starting thinking that I wanted them to have an accountability piece to record the number and the base ten blocks that represent each. I also wanted to use this as formative assessment for my strugglers with 3-4 digit numbers, so I decided to whip up a 2 sided response sheet for them to do just that and, after sharing it with Lacey, she said that she would be okay for me to share it with all of you! SO here’s a freebie response sheet to go with Lacey’s SWEEET Place Value Match up!

This way, the students are held accountable to completing the task, I can use their matching as a formative assessment piece for 3-4 digit numbers if I need to, AND they’ll get practice writing those 3-4 digit numbers, too!  Click the image above to snag this recording sheet to go with Lacey’s place value match or click HERE to snag it, too!

I have one other quick freebie to share with you that I will be using in my classroom this week! (That is, if these frigid temps and snow squalls decide to cool it any time soon!) I LOVE being able to teach my kids about cultures all over the world, and one SUPER fun one to teach is the Chinese New Year.  I will be posting much more about what we have planned to celebrate the Chinese New Year this week, but for now, here is a free venn diagram {boxed style for more room to write!} for you to use to compare the Chinese New Year to the American New Year!

You can click HERE or the image above to get your free copy of this graphic organizer to celebrate the Chinese New Year in your classroom this week!

Whew – ok! I hope you enjoy those few freebies and that you had a GREAT weekend! {I’m secretly hoping mine keeps going for an extra day or two 🙂 }  Happy Sunday, friends!
