Book Club for 2 :)

January 24, 2012 By Ashley Schroeder

Ok, as promised, I told you that I would post about my most recent obsession (have I mentioned I get pretty passionate about things/those that I love?!) – THE HUNGER GAMES!

To tell a quick, sidebar story about a previous obsession of mine – Twilight – I fell in love with Twilight a little later than the rest of the world (I exaggerate). My sister and I were talking one evening, never before having had a conversation about Twilight, and I said to her “Do you know what I predict I will soon read and become obsessed with? – Twilight”.  Her response was “OMG I am halfway through the second book right now!” That was the first journey through a book series that I shared with my sister!  (…cough…cough…i heart jacob black…cough…cough:) )

Here’s us at the midnight showing of Eclipse June of 2010:)

So the point of that sidebar was to tell you that my sister and I just finished another trek through a book series with Katniss in the Hunger Games. It was the quickest we have ever read 3 books in our lives! I loved sharing that with her. 🙂  If you haven’t yet read, you should!

The Hunger Games (and blogging) have been SUCH a stress relief for me! It’s so cool to be so completely absorbed in a story that you forget if it’s real or not real. 🙂  I’m not going to be a spoiler – because many of my dear friends who I think may be reading this entry – are just starting their journey with Katniss.  I know they’ll love it as much as I do!

This brings me to my next point – immediately, I knew I wanted to reread the Games, so I decided to see if my husband’s arm could be twisted far enough to get him to read them with me… I didn’t have to twist far at all! And he has even agreed to take me to the midnight showing of the movie in March! It’s a win – win! It’s like our own little book club, and, honestly, it’s one of the most fun things that we have ever truly done together.  He reads on the Kindle and I use my iPad, so we literally read right beside each other. 🙂

His image of Cinna you may ask? Our fabulous florist from our wedding:) He makes me laugh a ridiculous amount sometimes.  And holy cow – tomorrow, we will be married for 7 months?! That hardly seems possible?!  All things considered, my life is pretty fabulous – and he’s the best part <3 I’m so lucky.

we are <3

Ok back to reality  – until back to Panem with Ryan and Katniss later tonight.  We’re heading into the arena. 🙂

Entering the land of “holy crap I can’t put this book down for ANYTHING”!
